Docker Installation on Windows 8/8.1

This article helps you to install Docker on Windows 8/8.1 which is deprecated from official Docker Hub. This helps encouraging the Windows 8 /8.1 Users for learning purpose.

Step :1

Download Windows Executable file from Github.

https://github.com/docker/toolbox/releases/download/v19.03.1/DockerToolbox-19.03.1.exe

Step:2

Install exe file which is Dockertoolbox which contains Docker tool box Cli ,Docker Front End UI — Kitematic ,Virtual box as it creates a seperate os inside it.Complete the process with next options.Once done restart your PC.

Step 3:

You will see an icon naming Docker-QuickStart Terminal . Click on the icon and type “docker — version” .

If everything looks good then you will find a whale picture carrying containers on it .

There you go…Congratulations Docker toolbox installed locally on windows os 8/8.1

Step 4: (skip this step if you see excatly the above image)

if you are facing issue while running “docker — version” on docker terminal then my guess might be correct showing environment setup issue.

For this go the Dockertool box installation folder.

And open the start shell script in notepad. You will find STEP=”Setting env” where it has two eval steps comment out first eval statement by giving ##

Restart the terminal again.

Thats it. You Have sucessfully installed Dockertool box on windows 8/8.1
